Frontend work on EFA, an electronic journey planner processing 10B+ routing requests annually for MENTZ, supporting 80 regions across 4 continents — trip booking, admin service-portal tooling, and i18n support for high-availability operation.

Problem

EFA is MENTZ's electronic journey planner, processing 10B+ routing requests a year across 80 regions on four continents — at that scale, frontend performance bottlenecks translate directly into availability problems, and the interface needed to work across languages for operators like Rheinbahn and VRR.

Approach

Optimized the ReactJS/Ant Design frontend and React Leaflet map views, profiled and resolved the performance bottlenecks causing availability issues, and implemented i18n with i18next so the same interface could serve operators across regions and languages.

Outcome

The frontend held up under the platform's request volume with high availability, serving journey-planning, ticketing and admin tooling across 80 regions in multiple languages.
