Streamio, an adaptive bitrate video streaming platform built during my internship at Satoripop — video upload and channel management on the backend, RTMP ingest, and HLS/DASH/RTSP delivery on the playback side.
Problem
A single fixed-quality stream doesn't hold up across different networks and devices — viewers on a slow connection either buffer constantly or can't watch at all. The platform also had to accept live RTMP ingest and turn it into something browsers could actually play.
Approach
Built the ingest and transcoding pipeline around FFmpeg, converting incoming RTMP streams into HLS, DASH and RTSP renditions at multiple bitrates, with a Laravel backend handling channel and video management and a VueJs frontend for upload, editing and playback.
Outcome
Viewers get adaptive bitrate playback that adjusts to their connection instead of a single stream that stalls, and creators get a self-serve flow for uploading, editing and monitoring their channels.
